Ysmael Reyes has recently released his first solo CD,
Incanto.
The name of the CD is given by the work
Incanto
written especially for Ysmael by the Venezuelan composer Eduardo Lecuna.
This recording also includes important works of the flute repertoire such
as Luciano Berio's Sequenza I for solo flute, S. Karg-Elert Sonata in F-sharp
minor Op. 140
Appassionata, Toru Takemitsu's
Air as well
as works by J.B. Boismortier, Paganini and Ferroud.
Ysmael Reyes recently received his Doctor of Musical Arts on Flute Performance
and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he studied
with Christina Jennings. Ysmael wrote his DMA dissertation on the iconic
Flute Sequenza (1958) by Luciano Berio, entitled
Structural Properties
of Luciano Berio's Sequenza I
for Flute Solo: A Study of Melodic
Density and Pitch Material Relationships.
